Denise really loved the sweet hints of caramel as well as the soft chewy texture that definitely describes these cookies. In spite of the great taste that chocolate brings to a dessert,this was not another chocolate chip cookie. The cookies did last for a few days but we never got a picture until the second batch was made; I did say she loved these cookies 🙂. Anyway the second batch had more of a salted caramel taste,which was really a surprise. Still the main ingredient, the enticing chewy glob of caramel out performed all the other flavors as it swirled throughout the cookie.

3 cups White Lilly all-purpose flour
2 cups of chopped chocolate bars
2 cups of Hershey’s indulgent caramel flavor syrup
1 3/4 cups of brown sugar
1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup of bacon fat
1/4 cup of white sugar
1/4 cup of Nestle’s crunch bits
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of kosher salt
Preheat oven to 350 ° F.Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl. Add butter, bacon fat, sugars, vanilla and one egg at a time using hand mixer until blended. Fold in Nestle’s crunch bits, chopped chocolate bar and caramel syrup. Divide cookie dough into tablespoon size balls and refrigerate when not baking. Bake on a greased baking sheet for 15 minutes or until edges are brown. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.
